José Manuel Pérez Díaz
Graduated in Industrial Engineering, is the Director of the Industrial Park of Valle del Nalón, S. A. U, in which it promotes the support to the creation and consolidation of companies and develops programs of promotion of the enterprising culture (Formation of Entrepreneurs Network), that it encloses since children of 4 years until entrepreneurs with already implemented projects, passing fro secondary and university education. Member since 2007 of the International Association of Social Entrepreneurs ASHOKA, between 1987 and 2004 created the Centrales del Principado, SA, Mundinovi Sport, s.a. and I.T.KINE, S.L and participated in the construction of industrial infrastructures such as the Siderurgical Plant de La Felguer and other installations of naval construction.
Veronica Chesi
Master in Agricultural Sciences and Technology at the University of Turin, Italy. Worked in non-governmental organizations and international agencies to implement projects on rural development and food security in Brazil and Indonesia.
Currently works at the international headquarters of Slow Food, where she coordinates the activities of the association in Portugal, the Caribbean, plus some Latin American countries like Chile, Venezuela.

Gradueted in Agronomy by the Instituto Superior de Agronomia, Universidade Técnica de Lisboa in 1978. Master and Ph D. in Continuing Education and Vocational Education Extension specialist, University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA in 1983 and 1986, respectively. Aggregate in Agricultural Extension, Universidade of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro.
Collaborator in other academic institutions in the country and abroad, namely: Colleges of Agriculture of the Institutos Politécnicos de Castelo Branco and Coimbra, Universidade dos Açores, Évora and Santiago de Compostela, Instituto Superior de Agronomia, Universidade Técnica de Lisboa; Agronomic Institute Mediterranean Montpellier (France), Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania (Greece), National Center for Agronomic Studies of Warm Regions (France) and College of Agriculture and Forestry Engineering, Eduardo Mondlane University (Mozambique).
Investigator and coordinator of several research studies and projects in the areas of Adult Education / Extension Education and Rural Development. Held several positions in university management UTAD by nomination and election.
Participation in numerous panels of Master’s, Doctoral and other evidence related to academic or research career in UTAD and other institutions in Portugal and abroad.
Contributed actively in the planning, organization and animation of about nine dozen Congresses, Seminars, Meetings, Conferences and Training Courses at home and abroad.
José Tirapicos Nunes
Ph.D. in Agricultural Sciences, specialized in pigs, with the related disciplines of Animal Nutrition, Food and Animal Reproduction and Lactation at the University of Évora.
Director of the Department of Veterinary Medicine, University of Évora and Representative of the Ministry of Science Technology and Higher Education in the Regional Council of CCDRA.
Had as most recent projects:
- RECITE Project "Towards Sustainable Development of Marginal Rural Areas in Europe: A Network of Local and Regional Authorities” (Trentino/Italy; Lapland/Filanda; Alentejo/Portugal) (1998-2000), representative of ICAM –EU.
- Project AGRO 204 "Study of the Applicability of Auxiliary Reproduction Techniques to the Extensive Swine Production System of Alentejo" (ongoing). He is head of Design.
- Project AGRO 226 "Optimization of the Production of Alentejo’s Pork breed for the production of meat for fresh consumption" (in progress). It is the project leader.
Mónica Lazo
Ph.D. by the University of Valladolid (School of Agricultural Engineering) with a thesis title of "Management of wine tourism in the DO Ribera del Duero 2004 to 2007." Master in Business Management and Marketing Department at the School of Business ESIC, Madrid.
Currently Professor at the Universidad Europea Miguel de Cervantes (Faculty of Humanities and Information) in Applied Strategic Marketing, Corporate Communication, Packaging and Product Image, Critique Adverting and Advertising Creativity.
Salvatore Basile
Agronomist, expert in organic farming, with specialization in Sustainable development and Technological Innovation in the agricultural sector. President of Biocert Association (since 1994). President of AIAB Campania – Italian Association for the Organic Agriculture (since 2001). Member of the board of Director of the Italian Foundation for the Organic and Biodynamic Agriculture. Founder and Co-ordinator of the 1st Italian Organic District “Cilento” in Campania Region.

Lívia Madureira
Assistant Professor, in the Department of Economics, Sociology and Management of the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD). Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from UTAD in 2003. Expert in economic valuation of the environment. Researcher of the Centre for Transdisciplinary Development Studies (CETRAD). Develops research work and advanced training in economics and environmental management, with a particular focus for their implementation at the promotion of sustainable development.

José Carlos dos Santos
Graduated in Agronomy, Speciality Agro-Forestry, Instituto Superior de Agronomia, Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, and a Master of Agricultural Management, University of Reading, UK. Is nearing completion is the PhD Course in Agricultural Economics from the University of Madrid, Spain, with the theme "Feasibility of Dairy Farms in a shutdown of support and conditionality senario: a case study inNorthwestern Portugal" . He is currently a professor in the Escola Superior Agrária de Ponte de Lima, in the area of Business Economics and Management and Agricultural Extension and Rural Development since 1988 and is responsible for the disciplines of Agricultural Economics and Management, Project Analysis, Development and Rural Extension, Information Technology, Environmental Economics and Management of Cooperatives. Among the various research projects and published works include "The Investment in Agriculture", the "Impact of the Prize and Grants Agricultural Production and Income" and "Agriculture and Protected Areas in the Northern Region", held under the Observatory of Dynamic and Blocks of Rural Development in Northern Portugal.

Exerted a significant activity as a consultant to the Comissão de Coordenação da Região do Norte. As an international consultant has worked in international studies for the European Commission in particular on territorial prospective studies of inter-regional and transboundary and evaluation of the EES. Has been with Quaternaire Portugal, where he performs his duties of director. Coordinates the work of the Plano Regional de Ordenamento do Território da Região Centro and includes the evaluation team's ex-ante Programa Operacional Potencial Humano of the QREN 2007-2013.

Francesco Molinari
Dr. Francesco Molinari is project manager at Lunigiana Amica (www.lunigianaamica.it), one of the 3rd wave members of ENoLL – the European Network of Living Labs. He holds a MSc and a MA in Local Public Management (Siena University, 2007 & 2005) and a BSc in Social and Economic Disciplines (Milan “L. Bocconi” University, 1990). He is also a late PhD Scholar on Public Management at the Department of Business and Social Studies of Siena University. Currently an independent research and project manager for several public and private organizations in Europe, from 2009 on he has been associate to the London based 21C Consultancy firm. Between 2007 and 2008 he joined the International Research Unit at ALTEC SA, the second largest ICT company of Greece for R&D expenditure, holding the responsibility for eGovernment research. Between 2003 and 2006 he has been a contract professor at Pisa University, designer of the eGovernment module at the Political Science Faculty. His background includes a 5-years service as strategic advisor of a middle-sized Italian City Mayor and the coordination of a 50 million Euros Territorial Pact.
Marko Joas

The research areas of Prof. Joas include analyses of environmental administration and environmental policies, especially at the local level. His research from Finland, the Baltic Sea Area and Europe highlight also local level processes for sustainable development. Prof. Joas has worked also with questions of alternative forms of democracy, especially within the environmental sector.
Several of his projects are empirical in character, often based on large scale surveys directed towards local governments and city administrators. The very latest of his projects include also emphasis towards interdisciplinary research across traditional sectoral boundaries as well as cooperation with stakeholders and end-users of research results.
